Our October Shaker of the Month, Bronwyn Allard recently posted this to her Facebook page –
“Today marks 1 year since I started at “The Shake Up” and I could not let it pass without saying a big thanks to Ben O’Connor. I have always been a gym junkie and have tried every class/exercise going but have found Shake up is everything I want in a workout, quick (25-30 mins), fun, amazing people and best of all effective. I am fit and strong, my hubby tells me my shoulders are like a front row props, given he’s a mad keen rugby fan I took it as a compliment! So thanks Ben and Mick…I guess you’re stuck with me”!
We are absolutely bloody stoked to be stuck with you Bron! We recently caught up with Bronwyn to chat about what it takes to be in the best shape of your life at 46 years old and how to create a sustainably active lifestyle.
So Bron, tell us a bit about yourself? I am 46 years old, married with a 15 year old, I have been exercising pretty much all of my life and have tried plenty of different kinds of training environments. I would have to say that right now I am the fittest I have ever been in my life! I recently started Dragon Boating and I am loving that! I am a property manager which is something that I really enjoy. Our life is pretty active as a family and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
How long have you been training at The Shake UP?
It’s been a year and 2 weeks to be precise!
How does the mental resilience you develop here make you better outside of here Bron?
It certainly makes my stronger in my working environment. As a property manager things can get pretty stressful, managing 185 units and different personalities it takes some resilience. I have no doubt that if I didn’t have the physical fitness and mental toughness that I develop here, I would struggle to stay on top of things!
What keeps you coming back to the Shake UP Bron?
The fact that every session is something different. The fact that every session challenges me. The people down here are wonderful and really knowing that I have great friends that I come to train with really keeps me coming back.
Worst exercise? Bear crawls for sure.
You mentioned you have leaned up quite a bit these last 12 months. You are looking amazing so what is the secret to getting lean and staying lean for you Bron?
I guess I really enjoy being active. This helps to keep it sustainable. Food for me is super important also. I am eating more than I used to eat and now understand that if I want to continue being this active I need to ensure that I am eating plenty of the right foods.
Bronwyn is our October Shaker of the month and we are so proud to have her as a valuable part of our training community! For her continued hard work and unbreakable enthusiasm Bron has scored herself a $50.00 Zarraffa’s gift card from the awesome crew at Zarraffa’s Pacific Pines.
