The Shake UP – ‘Keep it Real Challenge’ is an initiative designed to create accountability for our hard working community. To succeed on your fitness journey, you need to grab a hold of something very tangible that will provide you with lasting motivation. One of the most powerful tools for this, are before and after photos. We believe it is our responsibility to create as much accountability for our members as possible. The Challenge is clear, high quality and consistent photography on the month, every month to present our members with a very unique form of measuring progress.
Darcy Gilbert is a very inspiring example of this type of success and the Challenge Top Dog for Summer 2014! Darcy has been a member of the Shake UP community since July 2013 and what a life changing 9 months it has been for this legendary young man!
We caught up with Darcy recently to chat, fat loss, nutrition and the power of goal setting…
Darcy… Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well… I am 18 years old, am studying accounting and right now I am putting a lot of my energy into the 10 week challenge. I am on a mission to get lean and strong!
You have transformed your body composition pretty drastically since you began training with the Shake UP. Can you give us an idea of what you have achieved… in figures?
I began training with the Shake UP back in April 2013. Since then I have improved my fitness a lot. Really though the last 2 months have been the best for me as far as Fat Loss. I am really enjoying learning about nutrition and how to eat around training. Since I began the Challenge, 7 weeks ago, I have dropped 25.5cm off my body, I have lost 4% body fat and lost 3kg’s.
What does the Keep it Real Program mean to you?
I have pretty much been at every one of the Keep It Real Photo shoots since we started doing them. I reckon it helps keep me on track. Knowing that You are going to take photos of me every month, i feel like i need to show you that I am improving.
What is your biggest challenge in achieving your health and fitness goals?
For me its my eating! I have always struggled with eating. Even when I first began training I was eating some bad foods and not really seeing any changes. The 10 week Challenge has help me to get focused on eating better foods. I always thought healthy eating was kinda boring but I now know that I can still eat a lot of great food and get the weight loss I want.
What is the best piece of advice you could give someone that is thinking about committing to positive change?
Just do it! Stop thinking about it and go do it! Setting goals is the best way to make it happen I reckon. For me just focusing on 10 weeks of hard work has helped me to focus on my goals.
What are you chasing Darcy? What gets you out of bed at 5.30am?
Well, I want to get my weight down to 100kg! I am loving the strength work as well so really want to be able to bench 100kg!
Congratulations on the Success Darcy Gilbert! For all of his hard work and commitment, our Challenge Top Dog for Summer 2014 has scored himself a $100.00 Fruitique Healthy Meal Package! A huge thanks to Benny “The Bull” Middleton of Fruitique for his continual support.
