Vicki Oliveiro, Shaker of the Month, June ’15

Our June Shaker of the month is one of the most committed people we have seen in our training community! In the past 12 months, Vicki Oliveiro has only missed a few sessions.

When Vicki began her Shake UP journey, she wanted to lose a few kilograms and feel better about herself. 12 months later and 8kgs lighter and this ass kicking grandmother is taking back her body confidence and feeling the best she has in years!

We recently caught up with Vicki to chat about what it takes to care for 25 screaming 4 year olds, be a great mother and grandmother and still find the time to train like a machine!

G’day Vicki. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?

Yep…I have been married to my husband Dennis for 25 years . I have 3 daughters, 36, 31 and 28. I also have 4 grand kids that are 10, 8 and 5 and 5! Pretty crazy ha!
I work in childcare and work with the kindergarten kids getting them ready for school. Its a great job but pretty challenging having 25, 4 or 5 year olds to take care of each day! Plenty to do but I make sure I create the time for myself to come down here to the Shake UP to train 3 to 4 times a week! I love it!

How long have you been training at The Shake UP for mate?

Well I think it must be close to a year now!

Ok great…so can you think back to this time last year and tell us why you started your Shake UP journey?

Yeah I remember very clearly, I really was looking for somewhere I could go to get fit and get my body fat down a bit. I just wanted to feel good about my body and have that confidence that comes with looking good.

In this last year, have you achieved that?

Yep for sure! I feel amazing and that keeps me coming back. This really just gives me a huge confidence boost knowing that I walk away from these sessions feeling like I am capable of anything really! I have lost 8kgs in this last year and am down a size also. I know my fitness has improved and you continue to make things harder for me!

I have been into your childcare centre and I get stressed just walking in there! Can you give us an idea of how our challenging training environment better prepares you for your life obstacles?

Yep for sure. Training has certainly built up my confidence. It really helps me deal with things at work and has given me the strength to speak up and not let people walk over me! In my previous marriage, years ago I came out of a pretty abusive place and had a lot of confidence knocked out of me. I really believe that being here and regularly testing myself has helped to increase my confidence.

What keeps you coming back to the Shake UP?

I love all the people. I am always happy to come down here because its a very positive place. I love that it is only a 30 minute session and I love that feeling I get when I walk away from here.

Whats your worst exercise?

Bear Crawls for sure! Enough said…

Lasting improvements in body shape and fitness take serious commitment! Vicki made a decision to change and stayed true to herself. There is no better feeling than the glory of achievement that comes with sticking to your guns. A very deserved winner of our Shaker of the Month! A huge thanks goes out to our sponsors The Salt Mill for the continued support, great service and amazing coffee and A Cultured Life for helping us keep our guts in check with delicious kombucha and kefir!
