Our August Shaker of the Month at Pacific Pines is an amazing lady who has been a Shaker for the past 18 months. What makes Zoe MacFarlane so awesome is that in the past 10 weeks she has kicked some serious ass in our Winter Challenge and is living, laughing proof that when you improve nutritional habits and continue training regularly, you can shift 10kgs of fat in 10 short weeks!

We recently caught up with Zoe to chat about living life 10kgs lighter and setting a kick ass example for her kids!

Tell us a bit about yourself Zoe?

10kgs lighter with 10 weeks of clean eating!

I am 41 years old. A mother of 3, Shorni (23) Tayne (15) and Kayla (12). The kids are all pretty active and Mike and I have become pretty active since being at the Shake UP really I guess. Mike and I have been together for 22 years! We have generally been an active family, always hiking or kayaking and things like that. It’s just nice to know that we can do these things now and I am no longer the ‘fat mum’ being left behind.

How long have you been training at the Shake UP for Zoe?

It must be like a year and a half. It’s hard to think really. I feel like I have only just got it now. I mean as far as results go it’s these past 10 weeks that have changed everything for both Mike and I.

Can you give us an idea of what being involved in the 10-week challenge meant to you?

After over a year of training and getting fitter and some small changes, I was 92kg and decided it was time to bite the bullet and commit to the 10-week challenge. Up until then I kind of was just putting it in the ‘too hard basket’. I guess the major catalyst though was having Mike battle through cancer and come out the other side so strong and determined to be his best. We have a responsibility now to really make it count and it certainly begins with our eating habits.

The Winter Challenge changed my life! It kept me accountable and gave me the focus and education I needed to make it happen. I have lost 10kg and stripped 30cm of fat from around my body. I feel amazing and have made some great friends along the way. Having a challenge buddy in Steve was great as we trained together also and really held each other accountable.

I can’t speak highly enough of it and would recommend it to anyone!

What do you love about the Shake UP?

I love that it’s a great place to socialise outside of the typical circles. Everyone here has a common interest and you know that every time you come down here you are going to train, sweat and push yourself alongside a great group of people. I know that Mike and  I really look forward to coming down here to be involved.

What’s the worst exercise or session for you Zoe?

Running I guess. It’s just so bloody hard. I am improving though so hopefully one day I’ll enjoy it as much as I did as a kid!
