New people are continually being introduced to the Shake UP and for most there is usually some element of self-doubt in their suitability to our training culture. “I am too old for that type of thing” or “I am not fit enough for that”! If only we knew what we are truly capable of our lives would be considerable different. Whenever we are faced with the “I am too….” objection, we usually begin talking about our amazing members and what they are achieving. “So you are too old for this type of training…?” Let me tell you about an amazing woman named Chrissy who is 55 years old and can 70 burpees in 4 minutes!
Our July Shaker of the month is one of the most outstanding members of the community! Chrissy is the essence of the Shake UP! She is our “Rock”! There are so many things that make Chrissy amazing but what impresses us most is her consistency in all areas of life! Chrissy is consistently one of the most influential people in the Pacific Pines community, she consistently trains with determination, she perpetually shines positive energy and above all is consistently an amazing friend to so many people in our community!
Chrissy is one of the Shake UP’s foundation members and we can honestly say that without her influence the Shake UP would be a very different place!
We recently caught up with Chrissy to chat about 32 years of marriage and how interesting people are what it takes to nail 70 Burpees in 4 minutes!
G’day Chrissy. Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well….I am 55 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband Rueben for 32 years! I like to play golf, going to the gym and I love meeting people! I love that here in this environment there are so many different characters and we can watch everyone come here and achieve their goals
How long have you been training at The Shake UP for ?
I can proudly say that I have been here since day dot! I am a foundation Shaker! 2 years of this place and I am still loving it!
So what have you achieved over these last 12 months?
So many things! I have certainly leaned up and built some serious strength and fitness. One thing that I train for is to stay mentally strong. I know how challenging life can be but when I am fit and strong I am at my best! My golf game is always improving and I know that being strong helps with my swing.
What keeps you coming back to the Shake UP?
People! The people here are all very likeminded and it’s a very positive environment to be a part of. I have been here for a while now and seen people come and go. Everybody has a great time here and seeing everyone achieve their goals is the reason I keep coming back!
Whats your worst exercise?
Well look…they are all bad, but we deal with it! If you don’t want to do it , don’t come. We deal with everything that you throw at us and that’s what makes this place special!
