Why do you exercise?
If we’re totally honest, for most of us, it is to look good. Right?
Of course it is. We exercise to look great!
How awesome is it, that by doing the things that make us look good, we are achieving so much more:
- Improved mental clarity
- Greater productivity at work and at home
- Higher quality of life
- Decreased risk of disease
- Increased stamina. Which leads into…
- A boost to our relationship ; ) you know what I’m talking about – ooh yeah! ; )
So don’t worry if your reason is purely to look great, just be sure to do it right – eat well and exercise effectively, and you will still get all these added bonuses and more!
Adam Merrit is our Shaker of the Month – he has done what it takes to make long lasting change and he is lapping up the benefits.
Since joining The Shake UP 10 Week Challenge in February, Adam has changed the way he looks, he has changed the way he feels, and he has changed the way he thinks about nutrition and exercise.
The people around him are noticing and are wondering what his secret is.
What is Adam’s secret?
Adam gave himself 10 weeks to focus on self improvement and to gain skills to allow him to improve and maintain his health, while still keeping up with his busy schedule as a business owner, father and husband.
Not only is Adam looking the best he has in decades, but his family life is amazing, and his business is booming. Adam’s wife Jess told me, that she is almost out of a job since Adam’s new found focus. He is so much more productive, Pro-Active, and organised.
We are stoked for you Adam and Jess. Thank you both for your ongoing enthusiasm, commitment and energy.
Congratulations on a well-deserved Shaker of the Month.
We would also like to send out a special thanks to our friends Esther and Richard at Euphoria Espresso Café for their continued support of our Superstar Shakers.
Each Shaker of the Month is rewarded with breakfast and coffees for two at Euphoria Espresso Café. The food, the coffee and the service is amazing!!
Drop in, say g’day and grab a coffee next time you’re in Robina.
Tell us a little bit about yourself Adam
I’m 33 years old, I’m married with 2 boys, Bailey and Josh. I own an electrical contracting company with my wife Jess.
How long have you been with The Shake UP?
What was it that brought you to The Shake UP?
Wanting to better myself and become a lot fitter for my kids and for myself and just general well-being.
Can you tell me one achievement that you are proud of to date:
A lot more clarity in my business. I can push myself a lot further and push my business a lot further.
It impacts both work and social life.
What is it that drives you to train?
My kids. I want to be around for my kids. Also for myself, I want to run a marathon, so that keeps me pushing.
Why is that important to you?
Family always comes first. I would rather be with my kids, and be able to run and enjoy being with my kids instead of being the person who sits on the side and doesn’t do anything with their kids. I want to be an ‘Active Dad’
How has training at The Shake UP changed you?
I’ve changed my physical appearance massively. I was an extra large – person and clothing – and I’m not anymore. I’ve dropped my belt size.
Mentally, the changes have been astronomical. It’s changed the way I look at food, my preparation – it just changes everything
So what is it that you like about The Shake UP? What keeps you coming back?
The trainers! It’s important to have a good experience with your trainer or you won’t come back.
It’s a friendly group, it’s a good program that is never the same. It’s always changing, it’s always challenging.
Can you tell us how the Shake UP has impacted your every day life?
It gives me physical and mental clarity. Also, as an electrician, I am able to get into smaller roofs now, which is a big help.
Which exercise is your least favourite?
Burpees, but they’re getting easier : )
