At the Shake UP our objective is to create training communities that generate the kind of positive energy that people become addicted to. Lure them in with positivity and convert them into health and fitness freaks!
Let’s get something straight though, there is no way we can do this on our own. It’s for that reason that we love having people like Kaitlyn English in our community! This legend radiates positivity and enthusiasm. Since beginning her Shake UP journey back in 2013, we can honestly say that we have never seen Kaitlyn off her game! Week after week She just cruises in with a spring in her step, smiles and laughs politely as we dish out the horrendous news about what’s planned; she destroys our workouts and then seems to just bounce off in a sprightly fashion!!
We recently caught up with our October Shaker of the Month to chat about what it takes to develop a great training routine and to keep it!
So Kaitlyn, tell us a bit about yourself?
Ok cool… I am 24 years old and I live here in Palmy, I work in commercial real-estate. Luke my boyfriend and I are pretty active, you know ride bikes, getting some beach time and really just enjoy being out and about in the Gold Coast
How long have you been training at The Shake UP? Well, since January here at PBC but before that I reckon I was one of the originals up in Pacific Pines when it started back in 2013!
What gets you through a session? What’s your motivator?
Bikini body…ha ha! I just tell myself, ‘survive these painful 20 minutes and it will all be worth it’! I know how good I feel after the session so that always gets me through! It’s a combination of everything I guess…Wanting to look my best and knowing that this really brings my energy levels up and makes me feel great. I love it. I am a little obsessed I think!
Sometimes positive obsessions can be healthy! What’s the secret to your amazing consistency?
I guess I have just created a great routine around training. I know that when I finish work I get changed and come straight down here. I don’t need to think about it anymore. To be honest I feel weird if I miss it! I remember that tough initial 4 to 6 weeks where the habit wasn’t there and it was a real struggle. Ha ha I never want to go back to those days. I am pretty happy with the rhythm I have now.
What keeps you coming back to the Shake UP Kaitlyn?
I reckon the people. There is just so much encouragement and support here. I just love it. I really like the short time frames of the workouts. I can walk in here have a few laughs with everyone and I always walk away F@#*ed!
Worst exercise? It kinda changes for me. I am hating the battle ropes right now!
You are on our ‘Keep it Real Challenge’ at the moment, can you tell us how the Challenge has changed you?
Yeah for sure, we are up to week 4 right now and I have to say I am kind of in the zone. Feeling super energised and way less bloated. I have been training for a while now and I believe the biggest change for me has been learning what to eat to get the most out of my training. I have typically been the person who gets sick 2-3 times a year. I am noticing over these past 10 months or so I haven’t been ill once and I am training more than I ever have. This is totally due to my improved eating and II guess balancing exercise and nutrition.
Kaitlyn is our October Shaker of the month and we couldn’t be happier! For her continued effort and amazing consistency Kaitlyn receives a well-earned massage from Pete Griffin at Palm Beach Chiropractic and some very delicious Probiotics from Cindy at A Cultured Life.
A huge thanks to Pete and Cindy for the wicked support to the legends of our local community!
