There is no doubt about it, life is dramatically different when you have a 2-year-old boy to chase around! Kate Ryan knows this better than anyone as she and her husband Dave have 2.5-year-old, ‘King Henry’ to keep them on their toes! Kate is an amazing mother and is doing exceptionally well at balancing being a mum and staying true to her own goals.
Kate recently kicked bum in our 10-week challenge. She looks amazing and is beaming with energy and enthusiasm. One of many ‘Super Mum’s’ amongst the Shake UP tribe. It’s not uncommon at our sessions to catch Kate running with Henry in her arms or doing push ups with him wrapped across her back!
We recently caught up with Kate to chat about her success and life with the 2 froth dogs – Dave and Henry
So Kate, tell us a bit about yourself?
Ok, I am a mother to Henry 2.5 years old. Dave and I have been married for 2 years. I am a Journalist and a trained beauty therapist. Right now life is all about being a full time mum but I am trying to keep my skills current with some part time journalism work
Most of our lives these days revolves around what “King Henry” wants to do. Ha-ha. It’s tough to find time for yourself when you have a 2-year-old. I love coming here to train. It’s great to get some me time and physically exert myself. I love reading too which I seem to find time to do when Henry is sleeping.
How long have you been training here for?
Um…It must be about 2 years now. I started right before my wedding and then jumped on the 10 week Challenge after that. I remember being so weak at that stage!
Tell us about your 10-week challenge experience?
I loved it! I do well with targets and when it’s a challenge I seem to apply myself more. Learning the right way to eat and the nutrient timing side of eating was great for me. I quickly realised I didn’t have to go without. I have done things in the past that I know weren’t sustainable but this program is something that we will continue to apply. I look at my before and after photos and think, ‘how did I get to look like that’! I lost 7kgs in the 10 weeks and I seriously feel the best I have felt in a long time! Eating well and feeling mentally stronger allowed me to get off of my anti-anxiety medication which for me has been huge. I’m pretty stoked about that. Dave and I both feel great and are very grateful for the whole challenge experience. So Thank you!
What keeps you coming back to the Shake UP?
I love that its short and sweet and that it works! Its tough for us with Henry but this really fits into my schedule. I love catching up with the girls too! There are so many great people training here together. Its awesome!
What’s the worst exercise for you?
I hate thrusters so much! The strength stuff is tough for me. Sometimes I feel like I want to cry when I am doing those things!
It’s a pleasure to see good people achieving great things and for all of her hard work, Kate has scored herself and 1 hour remedial massage from our good friend Peter Griffin at Palm Beach Chiropractic. Thanks for your continued support Pete.
