Linda Merten’s Workout Playlist, June 2015

The Shake UP training community is a collective of amazing individuals. Hard working people from all walks of life who come together with a common cause. It’s time to find out what gets our members Shaking! What is the sound track to your fitness journey? If we asked you to drop 100 burpees right now, what tunes would see you through?

Music has an incredible power to take us back; to allow our minds to revisit a great memory and in the dark moments of your Shake UP session, can provide that much needed lift to get you through!

Mix Master Shaker is giving our members a chance to hear their all time workout playlist at a Shake UP session.

We are looking for your top 10 workout tunes!  The only requirement is that these tunes have a good beat and a fast..ish tempo. All this means is that, we won’t be playing any Celine Dion!

Linda Merten is the kind of person we love having in our training community – committed, positive, considerate and always brings a huge bright smile! We had an inkling that Linda’s top 10 workout tunes were going to be bangers and by the explanation Linda has provided here, you can bet your top dollar that this Shake UP legend has destroyed a few dance floors in her time!

“Play it LOUD and the burpees will feel less like death.” Gota love that call….

1. Jay Z/Linkin Park – “Numb/Encore

Every time I hear this it make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. It has such an effect on me. An awesome collaboration. Play it LOUD and the burpees will feel less like death.”

2. LCD soundsystem  – “Daft Punk is playing at my house”

So catchy, my whole Family get their groove on. We love a Fri night dance off in our house.

3. Hilltop Hoods – “ I love it”

They always make my playlists. Just a really great song and makes me think of Adelaide and our time there.

4. Karnivool -“Set fire to the Hive”

Fast paced and Heavy…a bit like doing a million of Ben’s ball slams.

5. Queens of the Stone Age – “Sick, sick, sick”

Great fast tempo. Good one to get you pumped up.

6. Rage Against the Machine – “Killing in the name”

What I call my “angry music” because it makes me instantly punchy. In a good way.

7. N.E.R.D – “She wants to move”.

Before Pharrell started wearing the funny hats… The title says it all. This makes me want to move.

8. Safia – “Counting Sheep”

Love the stuff they are coming out with.

9. Zhu – “Faded”

I’ve done a bit of toe tapping to this one. Great beat. Hands in the air like you just don’t care.

10. Incubus – “Anna Molly”

Old skool I know but Brandon Boyd’s voice makes me eternally happy. If I was out in a field flipping a big ass tyre… I’d probably want to listen to this.

This is a pretty sick looking playlist and we cant wait to hear these thumpers cranking out of the Shake UP speakers! Monday  1st of June and Wednesday 3rd June is when we will be playing Linda’s Playlist.

A huge thanks to Linda for presenting this ass kicking sound track for us all. We will throw a pair of Punish Boxing wraps your way for your efforts legend.
